Dartmouth Women's Soccer (9-7, 3-3 Ivy) This Week
Game 17: Dartmouth vs. Cornell (1-12-1, 0-6 Ivy)
Date: Saturday, Nov. 7 • 6:30 PM
Location: Burnham Field • Hanover, N.H.
Series Record: Dartmouth leads, 19-7-5.
The Big Green has held the
upperhand against the Big Red for quite some time, unbeaten since 1996 with a
12-0-1 record during that stretch. Remarkably, Dartmouth has only allowed seven
Cornell goals in those 13 meetings. Last season in Ithaca, Dartmouth let a 2-0
lead slip away as the Big Red forced overtime, but Becky Poskin scored the
winner early in the extra period to secure the 3-2 win. Two of Cornell's seven
wins in the series came in the 1995 season.

This Time Out: Dartmouth hosts Ivy opponent Cornell in the final contest of the season, welcoming the Big Red to Burnham Field on Senior Day. The Big Green has posted a 5-1 record at Burnham Field this fall and will look to close the season on a high note tonight. After a win midweek at Bryant, Dartmouth (9-7) is assured a winning record overall and could be one of just a handful of Ivy teams to reach the 10-win mark with a defeat of Cornell.
Senior Day: Prior to the game on Saturday, Dartmouth will recognize the six members of a tremendous senior class. With six distinct personalities, this tight-knit group comes together as one of the most recognizable classes on campus. In four years they have racked up 34 wins including 16 Ivy victories and helped Dartmouth to a national ranking as high as 13th as freshmen. The Big Green seniors are: Ali Hubbard, Kelsey Quick, Becky Poskin, Myra Sack, Jenny Stone and Thea Sutton.
Last Time Out: The Big Green fought back from an early deficit to hand Byrant a 2-1 loss in its final non-conference game of the season on Tuesday. Sophomore Aly O'Dea (Irvine, Calif.) scored both goals to move her season total to nine, assisted by seniors Myra Sack (Wynnewood, Pa.) and Kelsey Quick (Bernardsville, N.J.). Dartmouth dominated second-half play and held a 26-4 shot advantage in the game. That contest came on the heels of a heartbreaking 2-1 loss at Harvard on Saturday. The Crimson took the 2-1 lead with just four minutes to play and Dartmouth was unable to counter, ending its Ivy title hopes. Harvard clinched at least a share of the Ivy crown and the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
In the Record Book: Sophomore striker Aly O'Dea (Irvine, Calif.) has come into her own this fall, leading the team with 19 points on nine goals and one assist. Her nine goals this season ranks 10th all-time and she is the first player to reach that mark since Sarah Johnson '07 did so in 2005. O'Dea ranks third in the Ivy League in goals scored.
Spread Offense: O'Dea is not the only Big Green player to get in on the scoring this season, as eight different athletes have contributed to the team's 22 goals. Perhaps most impressively, seven different players have been responsible for Dartmouth's nine game-winning goals. Both of Kelsey Quick's (Bernardsille, N.J.) goals have been winners and she also leads the team with five assists. Senior Myra Sack (Wynnewood, Pa.) is the second leading scorer behind O'Dea, with 10 points on three goals and four assists.
Classy Senior: Senior midfielder Myra Sack (Wynnewood, Pa.) has been named one of 10 national finalists for the prestigious Lowe's Senior Class Award. The award recognizes excellence in competition, community, classroom and character. An All-Ivy and All-Northeast midfielder, Sack is the co-founder of Athletes United at Dartmouth and spent a semester volunteering for Soccer Without Borders in Nicaragua.
