Field Hockey Welcomes Six Members in Class of 2014

HANOVER, N.H. – Head coach Amy Fowler and the Dartmouth field hockey program has announced that the Big Green will be welcoming six new members to the fold in the incoming freshman class of 2014.

Sam Anderson
Deerfield Academy/Wilton, Conn.

Before Dartmouth: Lettered in three sports at Deerfield Academy … spent four years on the field hockey team and was a two-time New England Prep School Athletic Conference All Star … broke the school record for assists in a season with 21 in 2008 … named to the White Mountain Sports All-Star Team as a senior … also played four years of ice hockey and lacrosse at Deerfield … won the 7th Player Award for the ice hockey team in 2008.

Personal: Samantha Kate Anderson was born on November 21, 1991 … daughter of Rick and Jenny Anderson … has a brother and two sisters … great uncle, Hank Waters, is the Class of 1952 and played ice hockey for the Big Green … father played ice hockey at Hamilton College … was the chair of the Student Programs Committee … a dorm proctor and head tour guide … led the Deerfield Sister Program and was an Alumni Student Representative.

Christine Auberle
Ottawa Hills/Ottawa Hills, Ohio

Before Dartmouth: Played three years of field hockey at Ottawa Hills High School … named her team's Best Offensive Player in 2009 … three-time Academic All-Ohio and earned National All-Academic honors last season … ran track for three years at Ottawa Hills as well.

Personal: Christine Elizabeth Auberle was born on December 31, 1991 … daughter of James Auberle and Maryanne Tsivitse … has one sister … member of the National Honor Society and National Junior Honor Society … coached fifth and sixth graders at the Ottawa Hills Field Hockey Camp.

Emily Clegg
Western Reserve Academy/Hudson Ohio

Before Dartmouth: Competed for four years in field hockey at Western Reserve Academy … selected All-Ohio in 2009 as a top-15 player in the state … four-time participant in the National Futures Championship … three-time first team all-league … Cleveland Plain Dealer “Best of the Best in 2008 and 2009 … chosen to compete at the Futures Development Invitational Camp in 2008 … most valuable player and team captain as a senior and most improved in 2007 … named Northeast Ohio's Most Valuable Player … four-time academic scholar-athlete … played three years of lacrosse at Western Reserve … named first team ISL in 2008 and selected for the Great Lakes National Team.

Personal: Emily Susanna Clegg … daughter of Chris and Alison Clegg … has two sisters … sister, Elizabeth, plays field hockey and lacrosse at Bowdoin College … participated in the Model UN Program and the school newspaper … member of the environmental awareness club and treasurer of the Junior Statesmen of America … administrative board member of the Community Service Club.

Olivia Quaglia
Los Altos, Calif./St. Francis High School

Before Dartmouth: Lettered two years in field hockey at St. Francis and was a two-year captain … three-time scholar-athlete … two-time field hockey MVP and Offensive MVP … first team all-league and All-CCS … USA Futures Elite participant for the last three years and a Futures competitor since 2006 … Futures Development Invitational Camp selection in 2008 … National Futures Championship alternate in 2007 and 2008 … NFC participant in 2009 for Team Honolulu … ran the hurdles in track for three seasons … was a two-time scholar-athlete … also competed in soccer.

Personal: Olivia Lynn Quaglia was born July 31, 1992 in Wahroonga, Australia … daughter of Thomas and Karen Quaglia … has a brother, Nick and a sister, Katie, who played field hockey at Boston College … father played football and baseball at UC Davis … mother competed in tennis at Humboldt State … uncle played tennis, while aunt competed in soccer at Saint Mary's (Calif.) … Junior Student Council Publicity Officer at St. Francis … was a biology teacher's assistant … member of the National Honor Society and four-time high honors recipient … went to the same high school as Amanda Bourque.

Victoria Tersigni
Bloomsury, N.J./Moravian Academy

Before Dartmouth: Four-year letterwinner in field hockey at Moravian Academy … two-time first team Colonial League and first team Express Times All-Area … two-time second team Pennsylvania All-State (2008, 2009) and Academic All-State in 2009 … named honorable mention Morning Call All-Area in 2008 and followed that with a first team all-area selection in 2009 … was her team's most valuable player in 2008 and 2009 ... named to the 2008 National Futures Championship team ... also lettered for four years in softball at Moravian ... was a team captain for both softball and field hockey

Personal: Victoria Alexandra Tersigni was born August 31, 1992 … daughter of John and Martha Tersigni … was the senior class secretary … member of the Cum Laude Society … National Merit Commended Student and an AP Scholar, as well as a member of the high honor roll.

Jenn Weissbach
North Caldwell, N.J./West Essex

Before Dartmouth: Four-year letterwinner in field hockey at West Essex High School, winning three New Jersey State Championships … won 83 games and lost only six in her career … three-time participant in the Tournament of Champions … four-time Essex County Champion and conference champion … two-time first team all-conference … first team All-North Jersey and All-Essex County as a senior … earned a spot in the New Jersey Senior All-Star Game … third team All-New Jersey Group 2 … competed in basketball for three years and currently in her fourth … two-time Regional Holiday Tournament Champion and won the MVP of the tournament in 2008 … was a New Jersey Group 2 Semifinalist in 2009 … two-time All-Iron Hills Conference Second Team … also played three years of lacrosse with a fourth to come … won the state championship as a junior … member of the three-time Essex County Champions … first team All-Essex County as a junior and second team All-Iron Hills Conference … named honorable mention All-Essex County as well.
