HANOVER, N.H. - With sophomores

Georgiana Smyser (Houston, Texas), and junior
Carley Markovitz (South Pasadena, Calif.) sitting out the match, the fifth-seeded Dartmouth women's tennis team nearly took out third-seed Brown, falling 4-3 in the third-fourth playoff of the ECAC Division I Women's Indoor Tennis Championship at the Boss Tennis Center and Gordon Pavilion this afternoon.
Dartmouth won the doubles point as the Big Green had all weekend, getting wins at the No. 1 spot from Scott and junior tri-captain
Mary Beth Winingham (Carmel, Ind.) and at No. 2 from junior tri-captain
Jesse Adler (Winnetka, Ill.) and freshman
Carissa King (Charlotte, N.C.). Winingham and Scott won 8-5 over Bianca and Carissa Aboubakare, the region's No. 7 ranked team. Adler and King downed Sara Mansur and Cassandra Herzberg 8-6. In singles sophomore
Ryan Reichel (Hilton Head Island, S.C.) took out Mansur 6-4, 6-2 at No. 3 and classmate
Ashley Mitchell (Charleston, S.C.) won in three sets at No. 6 over Brown's Kate Stewart.
At No. 1 singles Winingham dropped a hard-fought 6-2, 7-5 match against Bianca Aboubakare, the East region's No. 2 singles player. Adler pushed Brown's Herzberg, to three sets at No. 2, while King and classmate
Shelley Carpeni (New York, N.Y.) fell in straight sets at No. 4 and 5, respectively.
Dartmouth returns to action at home against UMass on Wednesday, February 25, at 5 p.m.
