HANOVER, N.H. ? The Dartmouth men's tennis team earned its first win of the season as the Big Green swept all matches to defeat Army, 7-0, on Sunday at the Boss Tennis Center.
The new combinations sophomore Stephen Greif (San Antonio, Texas) and junior Daniel Freeman (Chatsworth, Calif.) at No. 2 doubles and junior Justin Tzou (Cupertino, Calif.) and freshman Andrew Malizia (Chapel Hill, N.C.) seemed to help the Big Green as they were both victorious by 8-6 scores.
The Green showed great strength at the top of the line-up today with Freeman leading the way with a crushing 6-1,6-0, win at No. 1 singles. Sophomore Curtis Roby (New York, N.Y.) won his third match of the weekend in No. 2 singles and Tzou followed suit with a solid straight-set victory to give Dartmouth a 4-0 lead.
Greif fought off a late break to win his first set in a breaker and a solid 6-4 second set, while Malizia and freshman Michael Laser (Glencoe, Ill.) were both clutch in their matches finishing the 7-0 sweep of the Cadets.
Dartmouth will be back in action this coming weekend at Harvard for the ECAC Tournament, beginning on Friday and going through until Sunday.
