PRINCETON, N.J. ? Dartmouth senior
Andrew Ballentine's (Pendleton, Ind.) school record-breaking swim in the 400 individual medley was the highlight of day two of the Ivy League Championships.
Ballentine finished 16th in the final with a career best and school record time of 3:59.78.
Jack Driessen (Ridgefield, Conn.) had a solid showing, bettering his prelim time by nearly three seconds to win the C-final in 4:02.70.
In the 100 fly,
Marco Chu (Newton, Mass.),
Chris Koppel (Wilmington, Del.) and Johnathan Panzl (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) all posted season best times led by Chu's 27th place finish in 50:55.
John Hill (Erie, Pa.) took 16th in the 200 freestyle in 1:42.39 after qualifying in 1:41.24, which ranks fifth on Dartmouth's all-time top 10 list.
Scott Sorensen (Walnut Creek, Calif.) finish 18th in the event with the eighth best Dartmouth time of 1:41.82.
Rookie
Matt Stumpf (Palm Harbor, Fla.) was impressive in the 100 breaststroke, taking nearly five seconds off his season best to finish 13th in 54.46. Driessen swam a lifetime best in his morning prelim before finishing in a three-way tie for 20th in the finals.
Michael Ahern (Old Westbury, Conn.) took 13th in the 100 backstroke in 50.61 which is tied for second on Dartmouth's all-time top 10.
In relays, the 200 medley team of
Koppel (Wilmington, Del.), Stumpf, Panzl and Sorenson took eighth in 1:35.90. The 800 freestyle relay team of Chu, Hill, Ahern and Sorensen finished eighth in 6:53.76.
Dartmouth closes Ivy Championship action tonight.
