Abate Shoots 71 as Big Green Men's Golf is in Fourth

KINGSTON, R.I. ? In the final tune up before the Ivy League Championships, senior Alex Abate (Augusta, Ga.) recorded a score of 71 in the Northeast Invitational, three shots behind the co-medalists. Dartmouth finished in fourth place with a round of 297, eight strokes off Sacred Heart's winning pace.
Abate posted par by shooting 35 on the front nine, followed by a 36 on the back nine. Freshman Pete Williamson (Hanover, N.H.) followed Abate into the clubhouse with a score of 73 (38-35) in the 18-hole tournament. Davis Mullany (Great Barrington, Mass.) was two shots in back of his teammate, tying for 12th overall with a 75 (39-36). Dan Egan (Rye, N.Y.) had a round of 78 (37-41) while Rob Henley (Longmeadow, Mass.) rounded out the Big Green team with a score of 85 (42-43).
Dartmouth's team score was just one shot behind tying Hartford and the University of Rhode Island for second place.
The tournament will wrap up tomorrow.
