Men's Tennis
vs Dartmouth Invite #1
Dartmouth College

Brown Invitational

9/21/2009 9:00:00 AM | Men's Tennis
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Dartmouth men's tennis team won several of its matches on Friday, Saturday and Sunday opening up the Fall Tournament season at the Northeast Invitational hosted by Brown University. Sophomore Chris Ho (Los Altos, Calif.) dominated his division.
Dartmouth went 24-12 in the individual matches and overall had a very solid tournament. The Big Green wanted to get in as many matches as it could to shake the rust off from not a lot of competition for quite awhile. Jeff Friedman (Westport, Conn.) who played in the "A" division looked strong in his back draw match as he pushed Bryant's No. 1 seed, splitting sets before eventually dropping the super breaker, 10-8.
Andrew Malizia (Chapel Hill, N.C.) had a tough time with Brown's top freshman player losing a close first set in the breaker in the final of the "B" Division. While Dartmouth's freshman team of Alex Centenari (Towson, Md.) and Billy Strunk (Cincinnati, Ohio) both pushed their opponents to three sets in their final before dropping the hard-fought important set. After dropping a third setter in the second round, Mike Jacobs (Oak Park, Ill.) dominated his division while Alex De Chatellus (Tiburon, Calif.) had a solid tournament in his first college tournament.
The Big Green will next travel to California to compete in the National Tennis Center Invitational.
