HANOVER, N.H. – Dartmouth split a pair of tough road games last week, allowing senior defenseman Kelly McHenry (Williamsburg, Va.) to earn her first Ivy League Player of the Week award this season. The Big Green came from behind to hand regional rival New Hampshire its first home loss since last season and then dropped a hard-fought game to No. 13 Boston University.
McHenry led the Big Green to a 1-1 record last week in stern back-to-back road tests. On Oct. 6, McHenry helped the Big Green come from behind to defeat New Hampshire, 4-3. McHenry, Dartmouth's stopper on penalty corners, assisted on Kelly Hood's (Berlin, N.H.) opening goal against the Wildcats. She added a second assist on Kerry Bracco's (Hampton Falls, N.H.) goal, ultimately helping Dartmouth snap New Hampshire's seven-game home winning streak.
Then on oct. 10 against BU, McHenry helped the Big Green tie the game at 1-1 when she assisted on another Hood goal. For the season, McHenry ranks second on the squad in both assists (13) and shots (34) and her 1.18 assists per game clip ranks fourth in Div. I. She is the second Dartmouth player to be named Ivy League Player of the Week this season, as Hood earned the distinction on Sept. 28.
Dartmouth is currently 8-3 overall and 2-1 in the Ivy League. The Big Green squares off against regional foe, UMass on Oct. 12 before taking on Yale in league action on Oct. 16.
