St. PETERSBURG, FL — The Dartmouth women's sailing team finished sixth at the 2010 ICSA Women's Atlantic Coast Championship this past weekend. The women's Atlantic Coast Championship was hosted by Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, FL.
The Dartmouth sailing team earned a berth to the event two weeks earlier at the Victorian Coffee Urn Regatta, their fall conference championship. The ACCs are always tough regattas with 18 schools qualifying out of their respective conferences. This year brought additional challenges through a light breeze and strong currents.
The Dartmouth women overcame the challenges, and emerged from a tight group of schools to finish sixth after 15 races in each division. Sophomores Chandler Salisbury (Lakewood, Ohio) and Madilyn Gamble (Marblehead, Mass.) finished in the top five four times on their way to a ninth place finish in the A-division.
Freshman Kelsey Wheeler and sophomore Margaret Wilson (Rye, N.Y.) sailed to an impressive eight top four finishes, including four victories. Their performance earned them fourth place in the B-division, and helped the Big Green finish the season strong at the women's ACCs.
