FARMINGDALE, N.Y. — Dartmouth junior co-captain Peter Williamson (Hanover, N.H.) paced the Big Green men's golf team on Friday at The McLaughlin held at Bethpage during the first two rounds, shooting even par at 69-71—140 to finish the day in a tie for 10th place. In the 15-team field, Dartmouth found itself in 13th place — but just three strokes out of the top 10 — with a team score of 291-290—581 (+21) on the par-70, 6,759-yard Red Course.
Princeton's Chase Lovett-Woodsum posted the low round and score of the day with a 69-65—134 (-6), as the Tigers roared back in the second round by shooting eight-under as a team to take a one-stroke lead over Sacred Heart with a 559 (-1).
Williamson was steady all day, recording 30 pars as well as a trio of both birdies and bogies. Sophomore James Pleat (Nashua, N.H.) was the next low scorer for the Big Green, carding a 72-73 (+5), while sophomores Owen Lynch (Rumford, R.I.) and Andrew Jankowski (Elkins, N.H.) as well as freshman Joe Mazier all posted a nine-over 149.
In addition, junior Teddy Overton (Paradise Valley, Ariz.) competed as an individual and shot even par in the first round before finishing the day seven-over par with a 147.
The field will tee off tomorrow morning at 7:30 a.m. for the final round.
