HANOVER, N.H. — The eighth-ranked Dartmouth women's squash team hosted the top-ranked team in the country, Harvard, on Wednesday, and couldn't pull off the upset, losing 8-1.
In the match, the Big Green earned one victory and pushed three other matches to four games. Sophomore Katherine Nimmo (Wellesley, Mass.) won at No. 9 singles over Yuleissy Ramirez, 11-9, 11-7, 11-7.
At No. 1, No. 7 and No. 8 singles, Dartmouth was able to take a game off its Harvard opponent. Junior Corey Schafer (Natick, Mass.) lost to Laura Gemmell at No. 1, 11-7, 11-7, 7-11, 11-1. In the No. 7 spot, freshman Marian Lurio (Merian, Pa.) was defeated by Vidya Rajan, 14-16, 11-2, 11-8, 11-3. At No. 8 singles, freshman Helena Darling (New York, N.Y.) fell to Natasha Anzik, 11-8, 11-5, 7-11, 11-4.
The Big Green head out on their winter training trip on Dec. 8 before returning to competition on Jan. 14 at home against Princeton at 12 p.m.
