Big Green Invite - Day 2

HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth women's tennis team continued its stellar play on day two of the Big Green Invite. The squad went 8-1 overall, including 5-0 in singles and 3-1 in doubles.
The majority of the Big Green competed against players from St. John's in singles. All five Dartmouth players won in straight sets with only senior co-captain Shelley Carpeni (New York, N.Y.) competing against a player from Boston University. Carpeni bested Sophie Wyman, 6-0, 6-3.
Against St. John's, freshman Akiko Okuda (Tenafly, N.J.) won 6-1, 6-4 over Joanna Zwirbulis, junior co-captain Sarah Leonard (Norwalk, Conn.) defeated Ece Firat, 6-4, 6-1, freshman Janet Liu (Palo Alto, Calif.) bested Diamond Adams, 6-0, 6-2 and freshman Theresa Smith (University Park, Fla.) topped Lubov Pogribnyak, 6-4, 6-2.
In doubles, the combo of Liu and sophomore Rachel Decker-Sadowski (Santa Barbara, Calif.) topped Selakovic and Zwirbulis, 8-3. Okuda and Smith defeated Adams and Pogribnyak, 8-4. Okuda and Carpeni defeated Lieb and Martinez from Boston University, 8-4.
The Big Green Invite concludes on Sunday.
