NEW YORK, N.Y. — After day one of the Ivy Heptagonal Championships, the Dartmouth men's track and field team are in fourth place with 16 points. The Big Green had two competitors earn second in their events. Princeton leads after four events with 59 points, Cornell is second with 23 points and Harvard is third with 17 points.
Senior David Irving (Manchester, N.H.) took second place in the weight throw with a toss of 19.53 meters (64-01.00 feet). In the 3000 meters, sophomore Phil Royer (Portsmouth, R.I.) crossed the finish line second at 8:06.96.
The championship concludes on Sunday.
