MEDFORD, MASS. — The Dartmouth women's track and field team placed third at Tufts on Saturday in the Snowflake Classic. Tufts won the event with 147.50 points, Springfield finished second with 130.50 points, the Big Green tallied 89 points and Harvard placed fourth with 83 points.
Dartmouth had three individuals take first in their events. Junior Laura Hempel (Tallahassee, Fla.) crossed the finish line first in the 5000 meters at 17.55.41. Senior Alexandra Tanner (Baltimore, Md.) took the top spot in the 400 hurdles at 1:01.27. Junior Megan Faeth (Katonah, N.Y.) placed first in the javelin with a throw of 38.36 meters. Sophomore Jill Lyon (Barnstable, Mass.) took fifth in the javelin at 32.54 meters.
The Big Green continue to have success in the field events. Senior Jessica Robson (Newport Beach, Calif.) finished in a tie for second in the high jump at 1.55 meters. In the triple jump, sophomore Joy Piotrowski (Alea, Hawaii) placed fourth at 10.46 meters.
In the 800 meters, Dartmouth took two of the top three spots. Sophomore Caroline Buck (Winter Park, Fla.) finished second at 2:20.02, and sophomore Kaitlyn D'Orazio (York, Maine) crossed the finish line third at 2:20.72. Freshman Monica Adler (Manchester, Mass.) placed second in the 1500 at 4:36.40. In the 100 hurdles, sophomore Cassandra Ryding (Westford, Mass.) took fourth at 16.04.
The Big Green next compete at the UNH Invitational on Saturday, April 9.
