RADFORD, Va. — At the conclusion of the first round of the NCAA Regional at the Pete Dye River Course of Virginia Tech, Dartmouth junior Peter Williamson found himself in a tie for 14th place in the 75-player field with a two-over 74. Georgia Tech's Kyle Scott leads the regional with a four-under 68, allowing the Yellow Jackets to hold a six-stroke lead over the other 12 participating teams with a one-over 289.
Williamson began the morning by scoring par on each of the first three holes before running intro trouble on the par-4 fourth with a double bogey. After taking a bogey on both six and seven, he righted his ship with a birdie on the par-4 eighth. Williamson recorded pars on each of the next two holes before sinking birdies on 11 and 12 to move to one-over par. Four pars and bogey on 18 ended his day on the course.
Williamson will tee off tomorrow morning for the second round at 9:50 a.m. Complete results from the first day of competition can be found on the golfstat.com web site.
