Women's Tennis Finishes Play at Brown Invitational

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The Dartmouth women's tennis team ended its play at the Brown Invitational on Sunday and had two individuals win their final-day match with sophomore Melissa Matsuoka (Newport Beach, Calif.) and freshman Akiko Okuda (Tenafly, N.J.) each placing seventh in their draws.

Matsuoka competed in the Brown Bears Draw and bested Jen Holzberg of Rutgers. Okuda defeated Katya Medianik of Binghamton in the Boston University Terriers Draw.

The Big Green had three other athletes compete, but lost on Sunday. Freshman Janet Liu (Palo Alto, Calif.) lost in the back-draw final of the Binghamton Bearcats Draw, sophomore Rachel Decker-Sadowski (Santa Barbara, Calif) lost in the back-draw final of the Dartmouth Big Green Draw and freshman Theresa Smith (University Park, Fla.) finished fourth in the Rutgers Scarlet Knights Draw.

Dartmouth competes next week Women's College Tennis Invitational on Oct. Oct. 8-11.
