HANOVER, N.H. — Dartmouth junior Chris Hanson (Greenwich, Conn.) was recently named a wild card to qualify for the 2011 U.S. Squash Open at Drexel.
He will compete in the qualifying tournament along with 31 other competitors for the final eight spots in the main draw of the U.S. Squash Open. Hanson will need to win two matches, one on Wednesday, Sept. 28, and one on Thursday, Sept. 29, to advance to the main draw.
The U.S. Squash Open takes place from Sept. 30 through Oct. 6, and attracts the best professional players in the world. It will be held at Drexel's new squash facility in Philadelphia.
Hanson becomes the first Dartmouth player to be awarded with this honor. He's the second Dartmouth player to compete on a world stage after junior Robbie Maycock (Devonshire, Bermuda). Maycock represented his country, Bermuda, in the world championships held in Paderborn, Germany in August.
