No. 8 Women's Squash Ends Regular Season with Win at No. 10 Brown

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The eighth-ranked Dartmouth women's squash team earned an 8-1 victory at 10th-ranked Brown on Sunday. The win improved the Big Green to 6-6 on the season and 2-5 in the Ivy League. The Bears fell to 9-8 overall and 1-6 in the conference.

In the eight wins the team had against Brown, Dartmouth had five players win in four games, two players win in five and one player had a sweep. The sweep came from the No. 6 spot with sophomore Kensy Balch (Edmonton, Alberta) besting Lydia Smith, 11-9, 11-6, 11-5.

The two matches that went five games were at first and eighth singles. At the top spot, junior Corey Schafer (Natick, Mass) outlasted Dori Rahbar, 11-4, 9-11, 7-11, 13-11, 11-8. In the eighth position, senior Julia Watson (Rocky Mount, N.C.) came back from an 0-2 deficit to defeat Sarah Beresford, 4-11, 5-11, 11-6, 11-9, 11-4.

In the second spot, junior Becky Lau (Toronto, Ontario) beat Sarah Domenick, 11-8, 11-13, 11-7, 11-4. Sophomore Melina Turk (Winniped, Manatoba) defeated Mina Shakarshy, 6-11, 11-8, 11-8, 11-7, at fourth singles. In the No. 5 position, freshman Oona Morris (New York, N.Y.) topped Katherine Elliott-Moskwa, 10-12, 11-8, 11-3, 11-5. Sophomore Katherine Nimmo (Wellesley, Mass.) earned an 11-6, 11-9, 9-11, 11-3 win at the No. 7 spot over Erika Kohnen. In the match at ninth singles, freshman Helena Darling (New York, N.Y.) bested Kathryn Yates, 11-5, 7-11, 11-9, 13-11.

The Big Green get a week off before competing at the Howe Cup on Feb. 24-26 hosted by Harvard.
