Big Green Prepare For Catamounts

ROAD WARRIORS
The Big Green wrap up an eight game road trip as they head to Burlington to take on the Catamounts. Through the first seven games of the swing Dartmouth is 4-3-0. During the road trip they are outscoring their opponents by seven goals.

NON-CONFERENCE DOMINANCE
Heading into the contest against Vermont, the Big Green are riding a three-game win streak, with an impressive 4-1-1 record outside of ECAC Hockey this season. The lone blemish came on the road at Northeastern on Dec. 5. As the teams suffered a 3-2 overtime defeat. Dating back to last season, Dartmouth has an 8-3-1 record in regular-season action against teams non-conference opponents.

BIG WIN
Dartmouth is coming off its most lopsided victory of the season as it raced past Union, 6-0, to pick up its fourth league win. The win over Union was the 19th straight for the Green under head coach Mark Hudak.

FANTASTIC FRESHMAN
In the victory over Union, freshman defender Zoe Brennan tallied the first two goals of her collegiate career, while classmate Ailish Forfar registered her first multi-goal game in a Dartmouth sweater. Forfar netted her first career goal back on New Year's Eve against Providence in a 4-2 victory. Not to be outdone was Brennan's defensive partner Olivia Whitford. The Milton, Ontario, native had her strongest game to date as she registered three assists. Lindsey Allen continued to impress in her first year on campus as she tallied her fourth goal and picked up her fifth assist in the win at Union. It was the first career multi-point game for Allen as well.

STRONG AT THE TOP
The top line of seniors Camille Dumais, co-captains Reagan Fischer and Jenna Hobeika have carried the team in the first half of the season. Hobeika is currently riding a six-game point streak coming into the contest, while Fischer has tallied a point in five of the last six games. Dumais and Fischer are tied with a team-high eight goals and Fischer leads with nine assists.

HOLDCROFT GETS A SHUTOUT
Junior Lindsay Holdcroft continued her strong play over the weekend as she picked up her seventh win of the season. Holdcroft turned aside 17 shots to pick up her first shutout of the season and the ninth of her career. After an impressive weekend of allowing just two goals, while facing 37 shots the Pittsburgh, Pa., native lowered her goals-against average to 2.26 and improved her save percentage to .905.

ZEISS SCORES AGAIN
After waiting nearly a year between her first and second career goals, sophomore Samantha Zeiss scored for the second time in less then a week when she found the back of the net in the second period of the Big Green's win against the Dutchwomen. Zeiss scored her first career goal back on Jan. 3, 2012 in a 5-2 home victory against Vermont.

STACEY'S RETURN
After missing the last three games to compete with the Canadian National Women's Under 22/Development Team in the 2013 Meco Cup, freshman Laura Stacey returns to the Dartmouth lineup this week. Stacey scored a goal in the championship game against Russia Sunday in Fussen, Germany, as she helped lead Canada to Gold. During her first year in the Upper Valley, Stacey has scored three goals and picked up eight assists in 12 games.

SCOUTING THE CATAMOUNTS
Vermont and Dartmouth have become annual regional rivals. A pair of sophomores lead the offensive attack for UVM as Klara Myren has a team-best13 assists and 17 points, while Brittany Zuback has a 10 goals. In goal, junior Roxanne Douville has amassed a 4-8-2 record with a .912 save percentage. Since a four-game losing streak in the beginning of November, the Catamounts have gone 4-1-2, with the lone defeat coming in overtime in their last contest against Colgate on Jan. 6. Against ECAC Hockey this year, Vermont is 1-2-0, falling earlier this season, 5-1, at home against Rensselaer and splitting with Colgate at home this past weekend. Five different players have scored at least four goals this season for Vermont. Besides Zuback and Myren, the Catamounts have two other players who have registered 10 points this season. Sophomore Meghan Heurtas has seven goals and six assists, while classmate Amanda Pelkey has three markers and seven helpers.

AGAINST THE CATAMOUNTS LAST YEAR
Dartmouth defeated Vermont, 5-2, at Thompson Arena on Jan. 3 last season. After the Catamounts opened the scoring, the Green scored three-unanswered goals and never looked back. Then-junior Reagan Fischer scored the eventual game-winner late in the first period.

AGAINST THE CATAMOUNTS ALL-TIME
Dartmouth is 35-3-0 all-time against Vermont, while going a perfect 10-0-0 under Hudak.

SECOND-PERIOD PLAY
The key for the Big Green is to hold a lead after 40 minutes of play. When leading through two periods, the Green and White are 7-0-0 this season, a figure that reached its current state after the team held a 5-0 advantage going into the third against Union. Conversely, they are 0-4-1 when trailing after the second this season.

HOCKEY EAST
Against one of the top leagues in the nation, Dartmouth is 4-0-1 this season heading into the contest when taking on a Hockey East opponent. Wins over Maine (2), Providence and New Hampshire and a come-from-behind 3-3 tie with No. 5 Boston College were crucial to the early-season success of the Green as they look to gain momentum heading into the stretch fun of their remaining schedule.

HOT HOBEIKA
Hobeika has been on a tear of late scoring two goals and registering three assists in the last three contests. Over that span, the Alpine, N.J., native is a +4. On the season, she has four goals and eight assists to rank third on the team in scoring.

OFFENSIVE OUTBURST
Dartmouth's six-goal effort in the game against Union tied a season high for team tallies in a game. The 17 total points registered and 11 assists also set a new season high for the club. The last time the Big Green scored six or more goals came earlier this season back on Dec. 8 in a 6-1 win at Maine.

SPECIAL TEAMS
Dartmouth's penalty killers played well over the weekend in New York, killing 5-of-6 penalties against Rensselaer and Union. On the power play, the Big Green struggled a bit, going 2-for-12, while allowing a shorthanded goal against RPI. After going 0-for-7 against RPI, Dartmouth bounced back nicely with a 2-for-5 effort with the man-advantage against the Dutchwomen.

BOUNCE BACK
Since losing back-to-back games to Harvard on Nov. 30 and Northeastern on Dec. 5, the Green have won four of their last five, while outscoring the competition 21-7. The lone set-back during the run for Dartmouth came at Rensselaer when its third period surge fell short.

ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Senior Camille Dumais was named the Northeast Credit Union Female Athlete of the Week after leading the team to a 3-1 record in the month December. Dumais was a force in the month of December. She began with a hat trick and four points against Maine on Dec. 8 and followed up with a goal and two assists the next night to help the Big Green sweep the Black Bears in Orono. She earned ECAC Hockey Player of the Week honors for her play in Maine, the third such award of her four-year career. In the final game of 2012, Dumais scored once and assisted on another at Providence to give her nine points in the month.
