Agarwal Advances to Finals at Harvard's UTR Metro Open

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – After a successful first day of the UTR Metro Open yesterday, the Dartmouth men's tennis team was back in action on Saturday at Harvard's Murr Tennis Center. Overall, the Big Green won four of their matches. Freshman Aman Agarwal will play in the finals of the tournament tomorrow after winning his quarterfinal and semifinal matches.

Sophomore Diego Pedraza had a 6-3, 6-4 win over Sebastian Beltrame of Harvard in the quarterfinals, but would fall to Godamanna in the semifinals by a score of 7-5 6-4. Fellow sophomore George Wall fell to Godamanna in the quarterfinals, 6-3, 6-4. Freshman Max Fliegner defeated his opponent, 5-7, 6-3, while Agarwal had a 6-4, 6-4 win over Harvard's Kelvin Lam.

Playing in the back draw, freshman Paul Midgley won his first two sets, 6-7, 4-2, before the match was retired. He would play one last back draw match later in the day, falling to Amherst's Rodriguez, 6-3, 6-2.

For the first time this season, two Dartmouth players were pitted against each other in the semifinals. Agarwal and Fliegner were evenly matched for the majority of the time, with Agarwal taking the first set 6-2, before Fliegner took the second by the same score. Agarwal secured the win with a 10-3 victory in the final set.

Agarwal will be Dartmouth's lone singles player tomorrow, while the rest of the Big Green squad will take part in doubles.
