Dartmouth Varsity Athletics Top Moments of 2014: Day 5
12/31/2014 10:30:00 AM | Football, Men's Swimming & Diving, Softball, Women's Track & Field, Athletics
This is part five of DartmouthSports.com's five-part series highlighting 20 of the best moments from varsity student-athletes during the 2014 calendar year. These games, plays and events were selected by a group of individuals within the athletics department.
Due to the number of Dartmouth varsity programs, it was determined that a team may have no more than one highlight. While not every team is represented within this list, there was an effort made to include as many of the 34 varsity programs as possible.
This is not a countdown and there is no order to the events as they appear in this series. Its purpose is to highlight some of the tremendous accomplishments of Big Green student-athletes and teams during 2014.

Football Rallies on the Road to Beat Yale – Oct. 11
Trailing by 10 early in the second half, the football team railed to earn a 38-31 win at the Yale Bowl on a raw and rainy Saturday afternoon in New Haven. Junior quarterback Dalyn Williams threw for 388 yards — the fourth most ever at Dartmouth — while completing a career-high 32 passes on 47 attempts, three of which went for touchdowns. Williams' two-yard TD scamper with just 2:20 remaining put the visitors up seven and proved to be the final points scored as the Big Green improved to 3-1 and 2-0 in the Ivy League for the first time in 17 seasons.
Softball Wins First Ivy league Championship in Program History – May 7
In front of a capacity crowd at the Dartmouth Softball Park, the Big Green bested Penn, 7-3, in the third and decisive game of the Ivy League Championship Series to give the home team its first conference title and berth in the NCAA Tournament. Senior Kara Curosh electrified the crowd with a home run to left-center in the fifth that brought the home team to within one run. The Quakers' 3-2 lead didn't last long as Dartmouth plated five in the bottom of the sixth to all but seal the historic victory and give the Big Green their 30th win of 2014.
Nejc Zupan Wins Seventh Career Ivy League Title – Mar. 1
Men's swimmer Nejc Zupan won the 200m breaststroke in a pool-record 1:54.29 to pick up his second title at the 2014 Ivy League Championship at Harvard's Blodgett Pool. It was Zupan's second individual crown of the weekend after also breaking a 34-year old pool record in the finals of the100m breaststroke the day before. For his efforts at Harvard, the Class of 2014 swimmer was named the Harold Ulen Career High Point Swimmer. His time in the finals of the 100m would help him qualify for another NCAA Championship at the end of the month.
Megan Krumpoch Earns Three All-America Honors in Track – Winter/Spring
Often overshadowed by the achievements of some of her teammates, Megan Krumpoch put together one of the best indoor and outdoor track seasons in Dartmouth history in 2014. Krumpoch was a two-time All-American during indoor season, placing sixth in the 800m and helping the distance medley relay team to an eighth-place showing at the national championship meet in New Mexico. She saved her best for last in the final race of her career as part of an electrifying final in the 800m outdoor in Eugene, Oregon, in June. After earning the final qualifying spot in the event, Krumpoch ran a program-record 2:03.82 at Historic Hayward Field, passing three other competitors with a huge kick in the final 100m to take fifth and once again earn All-America distinction.
