LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Dartmouth men's golf team sits atop the leaderboard after 36 holes on the first day at the Bucknell Men's Fall Invite. The Big Green came into the clubhouse with a team score of 593 (+33). The squad shot a 299 on the opening 18 holes and then a 294 to complete the afternoon round. Sophomore Scott Jaster is currently third among 57 other golfers.
The morning round was played in fall-like conditions with rain and visibility issues, as Dartmouth was the only team to shoot under 300. Once the sun peaked through the clouds four other schools shot below 300 in the afternoon round.
The 10-team invite is being played on a par-70 course at the Bucknell Golf Club. Lafayette College is in second place shooting a +38 (598). The host Bucknell is third (+46) and Colgate is fourth (+50).
Jaster's five-over performance is seven shots behind Pierre Alexandre Bedard from Laval University and nine behind the leader Art Griffin (-4) from Lafayette. The sophomore shot a 71 (+1) after the first round and a 74 (+4) in the afternoon.
The Big Green finished with three other players in the top-10, as junior Charles Cai finished in seventh with an eight-over par 148. Cai improved during the competition and decreased his score from 76 to 72 over the rounds. Senior Charlie Edler and junior Dylan Rusk finished tied for 10th and shot a +11 (151).
The Big Green will look to pick up their second straight Bucknell Fall Invite championship when the invite concludes tomorrow. Last season, the Big Green shot a 875 over three rounds with Joey Maziar '15 finishing second overall.
