Men's Squash Drops Hard-Fought Contest at Penn, 7-2

PHILADELPHIA — The No. 8 Dartmouth men's squash dropped a hard-fought contest to Ivy League foe No. 11 Penn, 7-2, on Saturday at the Ringe Squash Courts.

In the first round of play, freshman Alvin Heumann (3) went the distance and then some picking up a fifth game win over a tough opponent from Penn, 11-4,8-11,8-11,11-7,19-17. Senior Bayard Kuensell (9) and freshman Brian Giegerich (6) each dropped their respective games.

The Big Green had no luck in the second round of matches, as all three members fell in close contests. Freshman John Harvey (8) lost in four games while senior Mark Funk (5) and junior Alexander Greer (2) lost in the fifth game respectively.

The team did finish out the day with strong play in the final group as junior Kyle Martino (4) picked up the second win for the Green and White in a three games. Sophomore Glen Brickman (7) lost Dartmouth's third five-set match of the day and sophomore Nicholas Harrington (1) lost to a strong opponent.

Josh Renaud won the exhibition match in four games.

The Big Green will conclude the weekend with a match at Princeton on Sunday afternoon.
