No. 8 Men's Squash Drops Ivy Match to No. 9 Princeton, 6-3

PHILADELPHIA — After a tough loss to the hands of Penn on Saturday, the eighth-ranked Dartmouth men's squash team dropped another gut-wrenching contest to ninth-ranked Princeton, 6-3, on Sunday afternoon.

With the loss, the Big Green is still looking for their first Ivy League win with four games remaining. The squad is 2-4 overall and 0-3 in league play.

Dartmouth picked up an early win by freshman Alvin Heumann (3), who won his third win of the weekend with a 3-0 victory. Classmate Brian Giegerich (6) lost a closely fought match, 3-2, and forced the fifth game after trailing 2-1. Senior Bayard Kuensell (9) lost in three straight games but got the most out of his opponent.

In the second set of games, senior Mark Funk (5) scored a solid 3-1 victory while freshman John Harvey (8) and junior Alexander Greer (2) lost 3-0.

In the final three games, sophomore Nicholas Harrington (1) and sophomore Glen Brickman (7) battled hard but lost in very close matches 3-2 and 3-1.

Junior Kyle Martino (4) scored a good three-game victory to record his third win of the weekend.

Sophomore Joshua Renaud won the exhibition match 3-1.

Dartmouth will head to Yale next weekend for a non-conference meeting with Rochester on Jan. 18. The Big Green will return to Hanover for four consecutive weekends of matches.
