No. 10 Women's Squash Knocks Off No. 7 Stanford, 7-2

NEW HAVEN, Conn. —The tenth-ranked Dartmouth women's squash team picked up a rather impressive, 7-2, win over seventh-ranked Stanford on Saturday afternoon at Yale's Brady Squash Center.

The Stanford win is the first victory for the Big Green over the West Coast powerhouse since Nov. 19, 2006, when the Green and White defeated the Cardinal, 8-1, at the Berry Squash Courts.

Dartmouth improved to 2-4 on the season overall

“I am very proud of how our seniors handled the pressure and how our freshmen played well showing their potential for the future,” head coach Hansi Wiens. “We've had a lot of tight matches in recent years with Stanford and are happy to push through and secure the win”.

The Big Green women got off to a great start with two 3-0 wins from senior Helena Darling and freshman Rebecca Brownell. Freshman Zainab Molani went down 1-0, but never panicked and bounced back to take the next three games for the win. Meanwhile, junior Tori Dewey fought hard but lost a close three-game match.

Senior Oona Morris fought through a tough five-game match, taking the final game 11-8 to put the Big Green up 4-1. Sophomore Madeline Fraser wasted no time to clinch the match for Dartmouth with a solid 3-0 win. Sophomore Jacqueline Barnes lost in a close three-game match to a strong opponent.

Additional five-game wins from senior Sarah Caughey and junior Lydie McKenzie capped the match off at 7-2.
