SATURDAY'S GAME
The Dartmouth field hockey team is back on the road for a Saturday afternoon Ivy League contest at Yale's Johnson Field. Game time with the Bulldogs is set for noon.
LAST TIME OUT
The Big Green dropped its second straight heart breaker on Tuesday afternoon with a 2-1 setback to non-conference Maine at Chase Field. Dartmouth and the 19th-ranked Black Bears played a low-scoring, clean game from start to finish with no cards issued and almost no stoppages in play. Rebecca Hu scored her team's lone goal to tie things up midway through the first half only to see Maine notch the eventual game winner just five minutes later.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Yale is struggling through 11 games this season, posting just two wins, while currently in the midst of a seven-game losing streak. Like Dartmouth, the Elis have also been unable to get into the win column through their first three Ivy League games of 2015. The offense has struggled as well, failing to register a goal in each of the last four games, being outscored 15-0 in that time. Carol Middough has amassed five of Yale's eight goals this season and leads the team with 10 points. No other player on the roster has more than two points this season. Junior Emily Katz has played every minute in goal so far and has a 2.68 goals against average and a .804 save percentage. Katz's 127 saves are the most in the Ivy League by 54.
AGAINST YALE
After a 4-2 win at home last season against the Bulldogs, Dartmouth now holds an eight-game lead against Yale in the all-time series between the two programs dating back to the 1983 season. In that Oct. 18 result in Hanover, head coach Amy Fowler became the all-time winningest head coach in program history with her 127th career victory on the Big Green sidelines.
HELPING OUT
Eliza Becker keeps picking up assists in her final season wearing the green and white, ranking tied for second in the Ivy League with 10 to this point. The senior co-captain has five helpers in her last three games after being credited with one on Hu's goal against Maine on Tuesday. In all, Becker has picked up at least one assist in seven of the team's 11 games, including a three-assist performance at Providence last weekend.
SOLID KEEPER
Junior Paige Duffy ranks third amongst Ancient Eight goalkeepers this season with 68 saves. She followed up her career day at Penn that featured 13 saves with another four against the Black Bears, doing everything she could to keep her team in the game against a top-20 opponent. Duffy entered the season as a two-year backup, but has solidified her position as Dartmouth's No. 1 this fall.
GAME WINNERS
After Ali Savage '15 scored all of the Big Green's game-winning goals a season ago, it's been nice to see some other players stepping up when it matters most. Sophomore Julia Donald not only leads the team with nine goals and 19 points, but her three winners are also the most of any player on the roster. Brooke Van Valkenburg also has a GWG this season as her late-game goal against Bryant capped a Dartmouth comeback bid on Sept. 20.
