THIS WEEKEND
The Dartmouth field hockey team head to the Ocean State for a pair of games this weekend, starting Saturday at Ivy League foe Brown before making the trip down the street to Providence on Sunday.
LAST TIME OUT
The Big Green dropped their 2015 Ivy League opener, 7-3, to visiting No. 20 Princeton this past Sunday. Dartmouth saw markers from Anna Ewasechko, Julia Donald and Brooke Van Valkenburg and were within a goal during the second half, but a three-score outburst in less than a minute by the Tigers sealed the win.
SCOUTING THE BEARS
Brown enters the weekend with a 3-5 overall mark, while 0-1 in Ivy play. The Bears dropped their 2015 Ancient Eight debut on Sunday at Columbia, 2-0. It was the second straight loss for the team after dropping a 2-1 overtime decision at home to Cal-Berkeley last Friday. Katarina Angus and Hanna Rodgers are tied for the team lead in both goals (3) and points (7) with Emily Arciero's three helpers leading the way for the Bears. Katie Hammaker has been the goalie of record in all nine games and boasts a 2.44 goals against average to go along with 51 stops and a .718 save percentage.
AGAINST BROWN
The Big Green own a decisive 27-10-2 advantage in the all-time series with Brown, including a 6-1 victory last autumn in Hanover. Julia Donald recorded her first multi-goal game in a Dartmouth uniform that afternoon, scoring the first two tallies of her career. Heather Zezzo's goal in the 28th minute was her first of 2014 and just the second of her career as the home team dominated play for 70 minutes.
SCOUTING THE FRIARS
Providence is struggling as they welcome Georgetown and Dartmouth to their home turf this weekend. The Friars are 1-9 overall with the pair of weekend home games immediately in front of them. The lone win so far came against their cross-town rivals from Brown, cruising to a 6-1 win on Sept. 17 following an 0-6 start to the season. Like Brown, the team's leading scorers each have seven points with Adrienne Houle (3g/1a) and Emily Matthews (2g/3a) pacing the offense. Goalkeeping duties have been split between Megan Guilbert (1-4) and Deidra Clymer (1-5) with neither claiming definitive ownership of the No. 1 role.
AGAINST PROVIDENCE
It's been almost exactly three years since these two last played back on Oct. 3, 2012. In that game — which was broadcast live on Cox Sports TV — Dartmouth scored three goals in a span of 7:16 midway through the first half to put away the Friars on their home field to secure a 3-1 victory and take a 5-4 edge in the all-time series between the programs.
A ROAD GAME?
Seven games into the fall season and six have come at home for the Green and White. Dartmouth's lone game away from Hanover at this point was a Sunday matinee against UMass on Sept. 13 in which the team fell, 6-1.
