Date: Sunday, Oct. 25, 2015 – 12 p.m.
Location: Hanover, N.H. – Chase AstroTurf Field
All-Time Series: Dartmouth, 12-7-0
Last Time: Oct. 26, 2014 – L, 3-1 (New York)
SATURDAY'S GAME
The Dartmouth field hockey team is back home for a Sunday afternoon matinee against Ivy League foe Columbia. Game time from Chase AstroTurf Field is set for noon.
LAST TIME OUT
The Big Green are fresh off their first Ivy League win of the season last weekend at Yale. Dartmouth went to New Haven and came away 3-2 winners at the Bulldogs' expense. Seniors Rebecca Hu, Brooke Van Valkenburg and Eliza Becker all notched goals for the visitors in the win.
SCOUTING THE LIONS
Columbia is coming to Hanover winners of its last three games, including a double-overtime victory at home against Penn last Friday afternoon. Were it not for Penn's Alexa Hoover, the Lions' Christina Freibott would be garnering a lot of attention as the top offensive player in the Ivy League this season as her 30 points are second amongst all Ancient Eight players. She leads the team with 10 goals and 10 assists, figures that both rank in the top-three in the league. Most of those figures came in non-conference games as Freibott has just three goals and one assist in four Ivy contests.
AGAINST COLUMBIA
These two met last season in New York with the Lions picking up the 3-1 win. Then-freshman Anna Ewasechko scored the Green's lone marker of the contest, while Columbia benefited from three defensive saves from field players to secure the two-goal victory.
20th MEETING
Sunday marks the 20th all-time meeting between the two teams dating back to 1997. Dartmouth owns a 12-7 edge in the all-time series with the two splitting the last 10 contests (5-5).
HU IS THIS SCORER?!?
Rebecca Hu had one goal in 51 career games coming into this season and it came in the 2014 campaign. In 12 games this fall, the senior and team co-captain has nine goals after her most recent tally at Yale. She had just eight points in three-plus seasons in Hanover, but already has 21 in 2015 as her role in the offense had increased exponentially. Her current point total leads the Big Green and ranks seventh in the conference.
STILL SITS SECOND
Eliza Becker notched her third goal of the season against the Bulldogs, but it has been her assists that have made her one of the top players in the Ivy League this season. Her 10 helpers are tied for second with Freibott despite having played one fewer game than her Columbia counterpart. Those 10 assists have doubled her three-season career output she brought with her into 2015.
RECOGNIZE!
Junior Paige Duffy was honored as Dartmouth's Female Athlete of the Week for her strong play last weekend against Yale. Duffy stopped 11 shots — just two shy of her career high — and earned her first career Ivy win in the Dartmouth cage. In her first season as the No. 1 keeper, Duffy has been the anchor of the Dartmouth defense and has regularly been the difference in games for her team.
