Men's Tennis Goes Fares Well at MIT Fall Invitational

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Dartmouth men's tennis competed in the MIT Fall Invitational this weekend, facing Amherst on Saturday, and taking on MIT and Boston University on Sunday. Overall, the Big Green went 11-1 in singles and 4-0 in doubles.

On the first day of competition against Amherst, Dartmouth went 3-1 in singles and undefeated in its two doubles matches. Sophomore Max Fliegner had a close 7-5, 6-3 win over Zach Bessette, while classmate Aman Agarwal defeated Ben Birkenfeld, 6-2, 6-2.

Freshman Roko Glasnovic had a 6-0, 6-2 victory against Jesse Levitin, while the Lord Jeffs picked up their only win of the day when Birk Mitau had a 1-6, 7-6, 10-7 victory over sophomore Paul Midgley.

In singles action against MIT the next day, three different Big Green players had a set where they did not allow their opponent to score a single point. Agarwal had an easy 6-0, 6-1 win over Jeffrey Bu, while Glasnovic defeated Bryan Lilley, 6-0, 6-2, and Midgley had a 6-4, 6-0 win over Kenny Gea. Fliegner added one more win with a slightly closer 6-3, 6-4 victory over Tyler Barr.

Dartmouth won all four of its singles matches against BU to end the weekend on a high note. In a very close match, Agarwal went to three sets against William Kwok, falling in the second, 6-4, but winning the first and second, 6-2, 10-7, to take the match.

Dartmouth will compete this week at the ITA All-America Championship.
