THIS WEEKEND
Dartmouth women's hockey will hit the road for the first time during the 2015-16 season to play a pair of Ivy League opponents. First on the agenda is a visit to Providence for a 7 p.m. faceoff against Brown on Friday. The next day, the Big Green will head to New Haven for a 4 p.m. game against Yale.
LAST TIME OUT
After kicking the year off against Harvard the weekend before, Dartmouth returned to Thompson Arena to host ECAC Hockey foes St. Lawrence on Friday and No. 4 Clarkson on Saturday. Against the Saints, a combined four goals were netted in a 12-minute span in the first, with St. Lawrence opening scoring at 3:42. Lindsey Allen's power-play marker less than three minutes later tied things at one and a man-up goal by Ailish Forfar at 11:45 gave the home team a one-goal advantage. Four minutes later, the Saints tied it with a power-play tally of their own and, with a goal in each of the following two periods, the visitors skated to a 4-2 victory. On Saturday, after the Golden Knights had jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period, the Green rallied to score three of their own to force overtime, ending up with a 3-3 draw. Brooke Ahbe netted her first of the season at 17:00 in the second, Kennedy Ottenbreit added one more with 30 seconds remaining in the period and Allen tied things at three at 5:36 in the third. Robyn Chemago entered the game in favor of Christie Honor – who opened her collegiate career by playing the first 17 minutes of the game – and did not allow a single goal in her 47 minutes between the pipes, making 24 saves in all.
SCOUTING BROWN
The Bears have had a rocky start to their season. They have dropped all four of their games and have been outscored, 15-1, with rookie Bridget Carey being the only Brown player to find the back of the net thus far. Last weekend, the Bears were shutout by both Quinnipiac (4-0) and Princeton (3-0).
LAST TIME AGAINST THE BEARS
Dartmouth had a 2-0 year against Brown during the 2014-15 campaign. On the road in January, the Green had a 5-1 defeat of the Bears and, inside Thompson Arena the following month, they had a slightly closer 4-3 victory.
SCOUTING YALE
Before the game against Harvard on Friday night, the Bulldogs are entering the weekend with a record of 1-3-0 and 1-1-0 in ECAC Hockey play. They opened the season with back-to-back losses against Quinnipiac (non-conference, 6-3) and Princeton (4-3). Facing Quinnipiac for the second time in a week, this time on home ice, the Bulldogs came away with a 4-3 defeat. Most recently, Yale fell to Boston University, 7-1.
LAST TIME AGAINST THE BULLDOGS
Dartmouth dropped both of its contests to Yale last season. The Green opened the New Year in Connecticut, falling, 5-1. Karlee Odland scored the visitors' lone goal exactly halfway through the second period. At home in February, Allen and Ottenbreit found the back of the net, but it was not enough, as the Bulldogs outscored the Big Green, 6-2.
LEADING THE WAY
With just three games under their belts, Allen and Stacey are currently tied for first on the team with four points. Allen has three goals and an assist, while Stacey has four helpers. The two seniors ended last season tied for the team lead with 26 points.
AND IN NET…
Starting netminder Chemago suffered her first loss of the young season against St. Lawrence, making 18 stops. The next day against Clarkson, she entered the game with 10 minutes remaining in the first and did not allow a single goal, making 24 saves to earn the tie. Through three games, the junior has made 62 saves in 166 minutes and has a .939 save percentage. Christie Honor made her collegiate debut between the pipes during the game against the Golden Knights, playing the first 17 minutes and making five saves. Dartmouth's third goaltender this season is Shannon Ropp, who has not yet entered the game.
