THIS WEEKEND
The Dartmouth field hockey team will close out the 2015 season this Saturday afternoon with a game against Ivy League rival Cornell. Game time is set for noon at Chase AstroTurf Field in Hanover.
LAST TIME OUT
Dartmouth is coming off a 4-1 non-conference win on Sunday afternoon in Burlington against Vermont. Senior captains Eliza Becker and Rebecca Hu combined for all four of the Big Green's goals with the latter notching her first career hat trick in the process.
SCOUTING CORNELL
The Big Red are 10-6 overall and 4-2 in the Ivy League with just the Dartmouth game remaining on their schedule. Krysten Mayers has been the driving force behind the offense this season with a team-best 13 goals and 29 points. Isabel Siergiej and Taylor Standiford both have 10 assists, more than any other player on the roster with the former adding five goals to rank second on the team in scoring with 20 points. For the most part, it's been Kelly Johnson in goal this season with a 7-4 record and a 1.92 goals against average to go along with a .632 save percentage. However, it wouldn't be out of the question to see Mackenzie Gagliardi see some action in the finale as she has some impressive stats in her time in the cage this season: 0.68 goals against average and a .800 save percentage.
AGAINST THE BIG RED
Cornell has won each of the last two meetings with the most recent Dartmouth win coming in the 2012 finale. The previous season, then-freshman Ali Savage scored the game winner just 48 seconds into overtime.
HAT TRICK
Rebecca Hu picked a great time to notch the first hat trick of her career when she scored three times in the second half of Sunday's game at UVM. Down by a goal early in the second frame following a pair of tallies from the home team to open the frame, Hu ripped off the next three goals to lift her team to the 'W'.
SENIOR DAY
Following Saturday's game, head coach Amy Fowler, her staff and the Dartmouth Athletic Department will honor the contributions of five individuals who will have just finished their playing careers. Hu is a member of the Class of 2015, but was granted a fifth year after an injury shortened her 2014 season. Becker, Brooke Van Valkenburg, Clare Detrick-Yee and Jessica Barfield make up the Class of 2016 and, in addition to Hu, will be recognized in a post-game ceremony.
FOLLOW ALONG
Saturday's game will be carried live in HD on the Ivy League Digital Network. Live stats are available as well, while fans can get in-game updates from the team's official Twitter account: @DartmouthFH.
WHAT'S AHEAD?
That's it. The season comes to an end on Saturday at the completion of the game with the Big Red. Spring exhibitions will be announced in the coming months.
