CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – In the semifinal of the ECAC Indoor Championship at Harvard's Murr Tennis Center on Sunday evening, No. 2 seed Dartmouth men's tennis team defeated six-seeded Brown, 4-0.
In a battle of the nationally ranked teams, the No. 50 Big Green improved to 5-3 on the season, while the No. 68 Bears suffered their first loss of the year and are now 5-1.
“Across the board, we did a good job on every court, both singles and doubles”, head coach Chris Drake said. “We are excited to play in the finals tomorrow against Harvard."
Sophomore Diego Pedraza and senior Sam Todd got things started at the No. 3 doubles with a 6-1 victory over Peter Tarwid and Aaron Sandberg. A 6-3 win by junior Brendan Tannenbaum and sophomore Max Schmidt over Ivan Kravtchenko and Greg Garcia at the No. 2 position a few minutes later earned the doubles point for Dartmouth.
Junior Dovydas Sakinis had 6-4, 6-2 win at the No. 1 singles against Justin To, while Riccardi defeated Kravtchenko, 6-2, 7-5, at the No. 3 position. It was Tannenbaum's 6-4, 6-4 victory over Tarwid at the No. 5 spot that earned the win for the Big Green, and all remaining matches went unfinished.
Dartmouth will take on No. 30 Harvard in the final of the Championship at 12 p.m. on Monday.
