HANOVER, N.H. – Dartmouth was recognized Monday morning by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association as one of the recipients of the 2014 Gladiator by SGI / NFHCA Division I National Academic Team Award for the most recent fall season.
To earn the distinction, a program must post a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 during the first semester of the 2014-15 academic year, during which the team competes in both regular season and postseason play. This past season, Dartmouth posted a 3.29 cumulative team GPA to meet those requirements.
The Big Green were one of 71 teams from across the nation and in the Division I ranks to be recognized. Fellow Ivy League program Brown was honored as the top team with a 3.59, while all eight Ivy schools were honored.
“Since it's inception, our team has qualified for the National Academic Team Award,” head coach Amy Fowler said. “I'm proud to know that our student-athletes continue to strive in the classroom.
“Our young women do a phenomenal job of upholding the Ivy and Dartmouth standard of being a student first,” Fowler added.
The 2014 Gladiator by SGI / NFHCA Scholars of Distinction will be released on Monday, Mar. 16. The 2014 Gladiator by SGI / NFHCA National Academic Squad will be released on Monday, Mar. 23.
