ARDMORE, Pa. — After retiring to the clubhouse in sixth place on Saturday, the Dartmouth men's golf team found itself at a new shorter 6,502-yard course — Merion Golf Club — and fell four spots to conclude the Princeton Invitational tied for 10th with fellow Ivy League foe Cornell.
Despite the shorter course, the par-70 field saw the Big Green shoot a 306 after they carded a 299 on Saturday. Yale held its lead and finished atop the board with a total of 571 and an even-par 280 as a team.
Temple's Brandon Matthews was unfazed by the change as well and finished 1-under at 139 (68-71) overall.
Freshman Edric Wung slid down 19 spots and tied for 24th after he was one-over after the first day. Wung finished with a 150 (71-79) along senior Charlie Edler (74-76).
Junior Charles Cai (78-75) jumped up two spots and tied for 38th with freshman Ian Kelsey (75-78) as the duo shot opposite scores in both rounds for a 153, respectively.
Sophomore Jeff Lang had a better day on the course and finished 19-over and moved to 53rd. Classmate Sean Fahey struggled a bit and shot a 90 on the day after his 72 put him in10th.
The Big Green will compete in one more invitational before the Ivy League Championship as the team will travel to North Carolina State next weekend.
