Sailing Takes Ninth at Two of Three Regattas This Weekend

HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth sailing team was once again out on the waterways and competed in three regattas. The Big Green finished ninth in a pair of New England races and placed 12th down in Maryland.

At the Thompson Trophy hosted by Connecticut College, the Big Green finished ninth of 18 in a three-division event. The Big Green scored 350 points and were 165 behind Yale, who took first. Colin Murphy and Sophie Kerr took eighth in the A-division with 113 point. Hunter Johnstone and John Lewis had a rough race in the B-division and sat in 15th with 155 points. In the final race, the C-division of Erik Weis and Mia Steck had the best showing and finished fourth with 82 points.

At Yale's Owen, Mosbacher and Knapp Trophies, Dartmouth had a great performance from the B-division of Nathaniel Johansson and Caroline Lauer, who took third with 72 points. Dartmouth's A-division scored 118 points for a total of 190.

In the final regatta of the weekend down in Annapolis, Maryland, the Big Green hit a bumpy patch and finished in 12th out of 20 other institutions. The 319 points came from a 164 in the A-division and 155 from the B-division.

Dartmouth is scheduled to compete in four races next weekend, which includes the Reed Trophy (NEISA Women's Championship), Boston Dinghy Cup, Greater NY Dinghy Regatta and George Morris.
