THIS WEEKEND
The Dartmouth field hockey team officially begins its 2015 season with a pair of home games this weekend against UMass Lowell on Friday and in-state rival UNH on Sunday afternoon.
LAST TIME OUT
The Big Green ended the 2014 season with a 4-1 loss at Cornell in early November, the fifth losing outcome in a row to close out the fall. The campaign ended with a 5-12 overall record, but a respectable 3-4 mark in league play against other Ivy League programs.
SCOUTING UMASS LOWELL
By the time Friday rolls around, UML will have played two games already on its schedule. The River Hawks opened the season with a 2-1 win against visiting Quinnipiac before defeating Providence, 3-2, two days later on the friendly blue turf of Cushing Field. Georgia Cowderoy is the lone player on the squad with more than one marker so far this season, scoring once in each of the two games, including netting the winner against the Bobcats in the opener. Kelsey Frederico has played all 140 minutes in goal and boasts the 1.50 goals against average to go along with her .833 save percentage.
AGAINST THE RIVER HAWKS
A goal from UMass Lowell's Marzana Fiedtkou with just 22 seconds left in regulation was the deciding factor in the River Hawk's 1-0 win at home against the Green and White last Oct. 19. The win was the first in eight tries for UML in the all-time series matchup between the programs.
SCOUTING UNH
Like the River Hawks, the Wildcats will have two games under their belts by the time they arrive in Hanover on Sunday. UNH began the season with a 4-3 loss at No. 20 Boston University only to gain some measure of revenge two days later on the same field as it took down 18th-ranked UMass in a neutral-site game. In the win over the Minutewomen, Bow, New Hampshire, native Lindsey Nerbonne scored three times, including the winner in OT to help the Wildcats to their first win of the season.
AGAINST THE WILDCATS
UNH took its fourth straight win in the battle of the two Granite State teams last season with a 4-1 victory in Durham. The Cats built a 3-0 lead by half before Dartmouth's Julia Donald got on the board in the 38th minute for her team's lone marker of the afternoon.
PRESEASON GAMES
The Big Green played two preseason games in August, defeating Guelph, 5-4, and falling, 4-3, to Harvard in overtime last weekend.
SWEET 16
Head coach Amy Fowler is back for her 16th season for the Big Green. The final win of last fall pushed her career win total to 127 in Hanover, setting a new program record for victories by a head coach with the Dartmouth field hockey program.

Both games this weekend will be carried live and in HD on the Ivy League Digital Network. Fans can also follow along via the live stats provided by DartmouthSports.com and in-game updates via the team's official Twitter account: @DartmouthFH.
WHAT'S AHEAD?
After UML and UNH, Dartmouth will play host to Northeastern on Friday, Sept. 11 at 3 p.m. The Big Green will head out for their first road game of 2015 two days after that to take on UMass in Amherst at 1 p.m.
