PRINCETON, N.J. – The Dartmouth women's swimming and diving team remains in seventh place with 387 points after two days of action at the 2016 Ivy League Championship. The Big Green sit just ahead of the Big Red in eighth (371.5).
Dartmouth placed eighth in the 200-yard medley relay (1:43.40), improving on its time from prelims by over two tenths of a second. The relay was made up Kendese Nangle, Megan Crook, Emily Holt and Charlotte Kamai.
Three Green swimmers finished within two seconds of each other in the 1000-yard freestyle. Maddie Wall placed highest for Dartmouth in 17th (10:06.06) and was followed by Hayley Winter in 18th (10:08.29) and Olivia Samson in 19th place (10:09.27). Crook placed 18th in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:04.93) and Dunn was 22nd (1:06.41).
A trio of Big Green swimmers competed in the C final of the 100-yard butterfly. Holt led the way in 18th (55.70), Katie Altmayer was 22nd (56.84) and Grace Herron took 23rd (57.96). In the 200-yard freestyle, AnnClaire MacArt earned 14 points with her 13th-place finish (1:50.08), while Amber Zimmerman touched just five tenths of a second later in 15th (1:50.13). Kamai was 20th and Wall took 27th (1:51.83).
Four Green swimmers finished just over a second apart in the B final of the 100-yard backstroke, with Nangle and Taylor Yamahata finishing 12th (55.87) and 13th (56.04), respectively. Allison Parent was 15th (56.86) and Caroline Poleway followed in 16th place (56.93).
Dartmouth placed fifth in the 800-yard freestyle relay (7:20.96) to end the second day of action, narrowly missing out on the school record. Made up of Zimmerman, Wall, Samson and MacArt, the relay finished almost two full seconds ahead of Brown in sixth place.
The Big Green will return to the pool on Saturday morning for the final day of the Ivy League Championship.
