Big Green Fall to Columbia in New York, 8-1

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The tenth-ranked Dartmouth women's squash team fell to No 7 Columbia 8-1 in New York City on Sunday.

The loss drops the Big Green to 3-8, while the Lions improve to 5-4.

Sophomore Rebecca Brownell lost 3-2 after leading her match twice. Meanwhile, junior Madeline Fraser also fell 3-2 after coming back from a two-game deficit. Freshman Emma Roberts lost a close 3-0 match, after the first and third games went to extra points.

Freshman Carly Rizzuto and senior Tori Dewey both came out of the blocks quickly winning their first games, but losing momentum, each falling 3-1. Sophomore Zainab Molani was swept by her opponent in straight games.

In the third round of matches, Janel Gaube once again turned in a strong performance with a 3-0 victory. Junior Jacqueline Barnes lost a competitive 3-0 match, while senior Lydie McKenzie lost in three games.

Dartmouth returns to the court on Tuesday when the Big Green travel to No. 12 Williams in Williamstown, Mass.
