SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – The Dartmouth equestrian team took part in the Zone 1 Championship at Mount Holyoke College on Saturday.
Moving on to the IHSA National Championship Show on May 5-8 in Lexington, Kentucky based on their showings in South Hadley will be senior Lindsay Seewald in Intermediate Flat and junior Catherine Conway in Novice Fences.
Also heading to nationals are Anna Knowles and Erin McCarthy-Keeler to take part in the McDonald Scholarship Challenge.
Freshman Olivia Champ, junior Cristiana Salvatori and senior David Cordero also competed in Saturday's show.
Conway earned her qualification as Reserve Champion in Individual Novice fences, putting in an outstanding round and then performing well in additional testing on a different horse to secure her spot.
Seewald also qualified as the Reserve Champion in Individual Intermediate Flat, in which she had the lucky draw of Dartmouth's own horse, Gia. Seewald was also eighth in the Individual Intermediate Fences class.
Champ was fifth in Individual Open Fences and third in Individual Open Flat after extra testing. Salvatori claimed seventh in Individual Walk Trot Canter, while Cordero was fifth in Individual Walk Trot.
All individual classes had 10 riders. The top-two performers from each class go to Nationals.
