HANOVER, N.H. – This weekend the Dartmouth men's golf team will conclude its season with the 2016 Ivy League Men's Golf Championship in Jackson, N.J at the Metedeconk National Golf Club.
The Big Green are coming off an impressive showing at the Yale Invitational where Dartmouth finished second overall with freshman John Lazor capturing medalist honors as the top individual, shooting even par in his second round. With a combined two-round score of 596 (+36), it was the Big Green's best finish since competing in the Connecticut Cup on October 12.
Sophomore Ian Kelsey will be a player to watch as the Deerfield, Illinois native has averaged 73 this season, with a low round of 67. Junior Scott Jastor has also been a solid competitor averaging 74, with a low round of 69.
As a team, Dartmouth averages a combined 294 per round. Harvard currently leads the Ivy League with an average combined score of 288. The Big Green also have one tournament victory this season with a win at the Quechee Club Collegiate Challenge back on September 27.
Dartmouth has two Ivy League titles, with its last coming in 1983. Princeton has the most championships with 20, while Penn is the tournament's defending champion. The Tigers have also had success on the links this season with three tournament victories.
The first round from the 6,859-yard par-72 course will take place on Friday April 22 at 8:30 a.m. Rounds two and three will also begin at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday where the winner will be crowned.
