CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – No. 44 Dartmouth women's tennis opened Ivy League action on Sunday afternoon, falling to Harvard in a very close match by a score of 4-3 at the Murr Tennis Center. The Big Green dipped to 12-3 overall and 0-1 in conference play, while the Crimson improved to 13-6 and 1-0.
Junior Julia Schroeder and freshman Racquel Lyn had a 6-3 win at the No. 2 doubles to start the day off on a good note. Senior Taylor Ng and junior Kristina Mathis followed that up with a 6-2 victory at No. 1 to give the first point to Dartmouth.
Fast-forward to singles and the score was tied at 2-2 following a 6-2, 6-2 win by Mathis over Lexi Milunovich at No. 3 and a pair of Harvard victories at No. 4 and 6. The Crimson took the lead by winning on court two, but the Big Green tied things up with a three-set win by Lyn at the No. 5 position.
With the score tied and just one match to go, Ng and Erica Oosterhout played a good match at No. 1. The Big Green senior took the first set, 7-5, while Oosterhout won the second, 6-3. With it all coming down to the third set, the Crimson player walked away with a 6-3 victory to clinch the win.
On Friday, April 7, Dartmouth will head to Connecticut to take on Yale.
