PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Dartmouth volleyball had a 3-0 loss to Penn (23-25, 23-25, 15-25) at the Palestra on Friday afternoon. The Big Green are now 10-14 overall and 5-8 in Ivy League play, while the Quakers improved to 6-18 and 3-10.

Freshman
Nicole Liddle led the way with six kills and 7.5 points, also adding one service ace, 11 digs and one block assist. Sophomore
Elise Petit was close behind with 5.5 points from five kills.

Dartmouth came out strong in the first set, winning the first four points off kills by freshman
Emma Moffet (2), sophomore
Olympia Nagel-Caland and Petit, and the Green continued to get further ahead until they had a 12-6 edge. The Quakers got within two points, but some Penn errors allowed Dartmouth to make it a five-point set (20-15). The home team took control from there, going on a 9-3 rally to secure the first set (25-23).

Another strong start put the Big Green ahead, 5-2, in the second. After Penn got within one, a 9-3 run following a host of Quaker errors, kills by junior
Abby Kott and senior
Samantha Bozoian and an ace by Liddle gave Dartmouth a 14-5 advantage. The Green remained ahead, but Penn threatened the entire time. With Dartmouth up, 22-19, the Quakers went on a 5-1 run to steal set two (25-23).

Penn won the first five points of the third set and remained comfortably ahead until the end of the set. With a 21-10 advantage, a 4-1 Dartmouth run after kills by freshman
Francesca Meldrum, Bozoian and Petit (2) got the Green a few points closer, but the Quakers soon shut it down (25-15).

Dartmouth will close the 2018 season on Saturday with a 5 p.m. match against Princeton.
