Their efforts are rewarded by being named the DartmouthSports.com Athletes of the Week.
Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the DartmouthSports.com Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.
Chris Knight, So., Madison, Wis., F, Men's Basketball
Sophomore Chris Knight averaged 18.0 points and 7.5 rebounds at the Belfast Classic in Northern Ireland last week, and was named to the Samson Division All-Tournament Team in the process. He first led Dartmouth in both scoring (16 points) and rebounding (seven) in a loss to Marist, then poured in a career-high 20 points on 7-of-10 shooting, including a 3-pointer, and 5-of-6 foul shots while grabbing eight boards in a 91-77 victory over Albany. The forward leads the team with averages of 14.6 points and 7.0 rebounds, as well as 11 blocked shots, on the season.
Sara McClanahan, Fr., Wayzata, Minn., F, Women's Hockey
In Friday's 4-2 win over Union, Sara McClanahan netted Dartmouth's first shorthanded tally since the 2014-15 season. With the score tied at the five-minute mark of the second, McClanahan netted her shorthanded marker with less than 30 seconds left on the penalty kill after Billing's initial shot was rebounded directly to the freshman. Sophomore Katerina Dajia picked up her second collegiate point on the play.
McClanahan followed that up the next day by assisting on the Big Green's only goal to end her weekend with two points.
