THIS WEEKEND
Dartmouth is home for the final home weekend of the regular season, playing host to No. 7 Clarkson and St. Lawrence on Friday and Saturday evenings.
LAST TIME OUT
The Big Green split the weekend in the New York Capital District with a 7-3 win against Rensselaer on Friday in Troy, before suffering a one-goal loss to Union, 2-1, the following night.
SENIOR DAY
• Following Saturday's game with the Saints, there will be an on-ice ceremony to honor the senior class who will have finished their final regular-season home contest.
• Recognized this season are defensemen River Rymsha and Tim Shoup, forward Corey Kalk and goaltender Devin Buffalo.
SENIOR STATS
• Corey Kalk became the 99th player in program history to reach 100 career games when he stepped on the ice against Quinnipiac on Jan. 12. His 30 goals, 34 assists and 64 points are all tops amongst active players.
• Tim Shoup is in the midst of a career year with 10 points on five goals and five helpers. His goal total and point totals are both career highs, while his assists number is two shy of his sophomore figures. Shoup became the 100th member of the 100 games played club against Cornell on Jan. 27. He scored against the Big Red and the night before in his 99th game, netting the game winner late in regulation.
• Devin Buffalo's first career start came at No. 12 Michigan on Thanksgiving Weekend in 2015, a game in which he stopped 37 shots in a 1-1 tie and was named the first star. Since then, Buffalo has gone on to make 52 more starts in goal, the fourth-best total by a Big Green netminder in the last decade.
• River Rymsha has missed games during his time in Hanover due to injuries, but that has done little to diminish his physical play in the 53 games. Rymsha's first career goal came at home against Clarkson on Jan. 15, 2016, a game that also saw Shoup score his first collegiate tally.
SCOUTING CLARKSON
• The Golden Knights come to Hanover ranked No. 7 in the latest national poll.
• The team has a 19-6-5 overall record and is 11-3-4 in league play. After starting league play 10-0-0 and then a tie to Harvard, Dartmouth handed Clarkson its first conference loss of the season. Since then, the team is 1-2-3 in ECAC games, including a 0-0 tie with Cornell last Friday.
• Clarkson continues to be one of the top offensive teams in the league, averaging 3.20 goals per game led by Sheldon Rempal's 20 goals. That figure trails only Harvard's Ryan Donato (21).
• Sophomore goalie Jake Kielly ranks second in the conference with a 1.74 goals against average and third in save percentage with a .934 to his credit. His 18 wins are the most of any conference goalie this season and rank second nationally.
AGAINST THE GOLDEN KNIGHTS
• A Kevan Killistoff first-period goal and one in each of the following two periods helped Matt Baker earning Rookie of the Week honors.
• The Golden Knights had been on a 15-game unbeaten streak (14-0-1) coming into the game, but could not capitalize on a five-minute power play in the third period as the Big Green swept the North Country trip for the first time since 2013-14.
• It was the second time this season that Dartmouth knocked off a team ranked No. 2 in that week's national polls as it had also gone on the road and beat Denver on Dec. 16.
• The Green handed Clarkson not only its first conference loss of the season, but also their first defeat since an Oct. 28 game at Minnesota.
• Sophomore Adrian Clark made a spot start, stopping 24 in just his second career win.
SCOUTING THE SAINTS
• After a very slow start and middle to the season, the Saints have come on as of late.
• The team is 7-21-2 in 30 overall games, while 3-14-1 in league tilts. All three of those league wins have come in their last three weekends after starting the year 0-11-1.
• Jacob Pritchard leads the team with 19 points, while Matt Marnell and Alex Gilmour have 10 goals each. Nolan Gluchowski leads the way with 16 helpers.
AGAINST THE SAINTS
• The earlier meeting between these two teams ended in a 3-2 Dartmouth victory thanks to a third-period power-play goal from Alex Jasiek.
• Charley Michalowski and Sellar also had goals in the first and second periods, respectively.
SWEEPS ARE RARE
• Dartmouth has not swept Clarkson in a season series since the 2005-06 season when it won in Potsdam, 4-0, and then again in Hanover on the final weekend of the season, 5-2.
• The only time the Big Green have ever gone a single season without a loss or tie against these two teams was 1978-79 when Dartmouth beat Clarkson, 7-1, in the Auld Lang Syne Tournament on New Year's Eve and then again in the quarterfinals with a 2-1 OT win to send the team to the semis at Boston Garden. The Green and White also had a 5-4 win in Canton on Jan. 6, 1979, just the third win on the road at St. Lawrence in 30 years.
LAST FRIDAY
• The 7-3 victory marked the seventh straight win over the Engineers dating back to Jan. 2015.
• The Big Green have now swept the season series from Rensselaer in each of the last three seasons, including 2017-18.
• The seven straight victories is the second-longest win streak against RPI: 8, Mar. 13, 2004 to Feb. 2, 2007 (8-0-0, started in Game 2 of a playoff series).
WHAT A NIGHT FOR THE TOP LINE
• The top line of Shane Sellar, Will Graber and Quin Foreman combined for 13 points in the RPI game.
• Sellar finished with six points (2-4-6), becoming the first Dartmouth player with six points in a game since Dennis Murphy (4-2-6) on Jan. 22, 1978 against Penn. It was the 77th time in program history a Dartmouth skater reached the mark.
• Sellar tied his career high in goals, while setting new marks in assists and points. Graber also set new career highs in goals and points as he posted a line of 3-2-5.
• Graber and Sellar tied for the scoring lead in the nation last week with their matching six points as Graber added an assist Saturday at Union.
HAT TRICK INFO
• Graber became the first Dartmouth player since Hugh Jessiman to record a natural hat trick. Jessiman accomplished the feat on Nov. 21, 2003 in a 9-4 win at Yale en route to a 4-1-5 game.
• Prior to Jessiman, the program's last natural hat trick came on Feb. 23, 1980 when Ross Brownridge (3-2-5) scored the first three goals in a 7-0 home win against Brown. Head coach Bob Gaudet was in net that night for the Green, making 27 saves in a shutout.
• Brownridge (3-1-4) would record another four days later against Harvard for shortest gap between hat tricks by the same player in program history. The hat trick against the Crimson was capped by the OT winner, one of only two instances since 1970 in which a Dartmouth player's third goal of the night came in overtime. It was not done again until Brad Schierhorn capped his only career hat trick by scoring the winner to beat Colgate in Game 1 of a 2016 first round series.
(research done by Will Sanborn)
5 POINTS… TWICE
• Last time Dartmouth had two players with five or more points in the same game was Nov. 19, 2005 vs. Yale: Nick Johnson (2-3-5) and Mike Ouellette (3-2-5).
• Like Sellar and Garber, the duo was the starting left wing and center.
• Ouellette also had a hat trick with two goals in the first period and one in the second.
• His hat trick also started with the Big Green trailing by a goal in the opening period.
• The winning goalie that night for Dartmouth (Mike Devine) also finished the game with 20 saves, the same number Devin Buffalo had last night.
AWARD SEASON
• For their efforts on the weekend, but Sellar and Graber were recognized individually.
• Sellar was named the ECAC Hockey Player of the Week for his play, joining Daniel Warpecha (Nov. 7) as the other Big Green player to earn the distinction this season.
• Graber was tabbed the NCAA's Third Star of the Week, becoming the first Dartmouth player since Nick Bligh '16 on Jan. 5, 2016 to earn weekly recognition on a national level from the NCAA.

LOG JAM
• The ECAC Hockey standings are jammed up in the middle with just two points separating fifth-place Colgate (18) and ninth-place Quinnipiac (16).
• Between the Raiders and Bobcats are a trio of Ivy League programs tied for fifth with 17 points as Princeton, Dartmouth and Yale are all battling for positioning.
• Only the Big Green and Bulldogs have yet to finish their season series with one another in that group as the two play next Friday night in New Haven in a key matchup.

299 AND COUNTING
• The win against RPI was the 299th at Dartmouth for head coach Bob Gaudet '81.
• With one more win, Gaudet joins legendary coach Eddie Jeremiah '30 as the only other bench boss at Dartmouth with 300 victories in Hanover.
• Gaudet is also approaching 400 wins for his career between Brown and Dartmouth. He currently has 392 victories between his two places of employment in 30 seasons in ECAC Hockey and the Ivy League.
SHOUP'S BREAKOUT SEASON
• Tim Shoup came into his senior season with just two goals, having not scored once during his junior season. His last goal before the start of 2017-18 was in Game 2 of the 2016 quarterfinal sweep of Yale in New Haven. Both of his previous markers came as a sophomore as he did not find the back of the net as a freshman either.
• Shoup's goal 1:16 into the third period at Union was his fifth of the season, tying him with forwards Kevan Kilistoff and Corey Kalk for fourth on the team.
• His four third-period goals are twice as many as any other player on the team and account for more than a quarter of the team's total output in the final 20 minutes this season.
DARTMOUTH STILL DISCIPLINED
• Despite five penalties called against them at Union, the Big Green remain the least penalized team in the nation with just 3.52 calls per game.
• The 7.92 minutes PIMs per game is the second-fewest behind Denver (7.46).
• Matt Baker's cross checking minor with 4:45 remaining in the Rensselaer game was the lone penalty called against the Green in the contest.
• To date, Dartmouth has four games of zero (1) or one (3) penalty with all four coming after Christmas.
