NORFOLK, Va. – Friday concluded the competition for the Inter-collegiate Sailing Association Sperry Women's National Championship hosted by Old Dominion University, where the Dartmouth sailing team finished 10th out of 18 teams.Â
Emma White, Audrey Giblin, Kathryn Hall, Paige Clarke, Sophia Diserio and Peninah Benjamin all represented the Big Green in the event, making a comeback in the semifinals earlier in the week to advance to the finals, which began Thursday.
With a total of 352 points Dartmouth took 10th place, ahead of Ivy League foes Harvard who came in 15th with 424 points and Penn who finished last with 460. Boston College ended day one in the top three and finished on top winning the entire event with 246 points after a head-to-head tiebreaker with the College of Charleston leaving the reigning champs in second place, while Hobart and William Smith took third with 258.
The Big Green women concluded the season ranked 14th in ICSA rankings and with a strong showing in the national championship events after low results in the spring regular season. Members of the Dartmouth sailing team will compete in the coed national championship beginning next Tuesday, also hosted by ODU.
