HANOVER, N.H. - Dartmouth men's lacrosse head coach Brendan Callahan announced the 2018 team awards. Six players were recognized for their performances throughout the year.
Jack Korzelius received the Tom Dent Memorial (MVP) Medal. The medal is awarded to the senior player who, by vote of the entire team, has demonstrated the ideals of Tom Dent through his aggressive play, his proven ability as a team player, his enjoyment of the game and who, by his sportsmanlike conduct, is a credit to the memory of Dent and Dartmouth.
An All-Ivy second team honoree hailing from Purchase, New York, Korzelius was one of three players to appear in and start all 13 games throughout the season. He was first on the team in man-up tallies (4), second in goals (20) and third in points (23). He was selected by the Atlanta Blaze with the 56th overall pick in the 2018 MLL Draft and was recently named a USILA Scholar All-American.
The Iron Pine Award, which is given to the person that is the strongest, most fit and most skilled person on the team, was awarded to Chris Bacotti. As a sophomore in 2018, Bacotti played in all 13 games and was third on the team in ground balls (33) and first in faceoff percentage (.476).
George Prince received both the Jenkins C. Marshall 1984 Award and the Offensive MVP Award, the former being given to the rookie of the year and the latter to be awarded to the player that was most valuable for the offense during the season. In 13 starts, he was first in assists (18) and points (34) and third in goals (16). He had at least one point in all but one game and had nine multi-point contests.
The Class of 1980 Award for the student-athlete who best represents themselves, their team, the college and the community through their academics, athletics and community involvement was given to Willis Bocock. As a senior, he played in 12 games, grabbing six ground balls and causing one turnover.
Evan Key won the Dud Hendrick Lone Pine Award, which is awarded to the player whose hard work, competitive spirit and dedication to his teammates and to lacrosse has led to the most improvement during his career at Dartmouth. Throughout his senior year, he netted two goals and had an assist to the end the season with three points.
The Blue Collar Coaches Award, given to the player that displays a daily work ethic that far exceeds most and, while this payer may not always make the showy or spectacular play, his efforts are always unassuming and dependable, was awarded to Steve Satterthwaite. In 10 games, he grabbed one ground ball and had two caused turnovers.
