CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Dartmouth sailing team had a successful start to the new season over the weekend, taking three top-five finishes. The Big Green claimed a second-place finish at the Toni Deutsch '58 Regatta, took third place at the 76th Pine Trophy, and finished fifth at the Harry H. Anderson Jr. Regatta.

At the Toni Deutsch Regatta hosted by MIT, the Big Green finished second out of 13 teams and were represented by junior
Paige Clarke, senior
Emma White, and sophomores
Sarah Chong,
Eloise Burn and
Kathryn Hall. Saturday was overcast and breezy with temperatures in the mid-60's with wind at 5–10 knots, while Sunday's water warmed up to the mid-70's with wind topping out at 13 knots. Over the two race days. Dartmouth came away with five first-place finishes, and placed second four times for a total of 130 points to secure a second-place finish.

Dartmouth took third out of seven teams at the Pine Trophy hosted by Coast Guard on Saturday. Racing for Dartmouth were seniors
Rebecca McElvain and
Christopher Williford, junior
Noah Simmons, and sophomore
Timothy Greenhouse. The Big Green improved as the day went on with unpredictable conditions finishing in second place twice and third place once for a total of 57 points. With the third-place overall finish, Dartmouth has qualified for the NEISA Match Race Championship for the Larry White Trophy.

In the Harry Anderson Trophy hosted by Yale, the Big Green took home a fifth-place finish out of 16 teams. On Saturday, the wind was northeasterly at 8-15 knots, which died down to two knots by the end of the day. Sunday brought a northeasterly breeze ranging from 6-12 knots. The Big Green finished first three times over the weekend along with three second-place finishes for a total of 226 points. Dartmouth was represented by seniors

Next weekend, the Big Green are scheduled to race in three regattas: The Regis women's trophy hosted by Harvard, the Hatch Brown Trophy at MIT, and the Barnett Trophy hosted by Bowdoin College. Â
