HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth women's golf team will host its season-opening invitational at the Hanover Country Club this weekend, welcoming a field of 14 other teams to the Big Green's home course.
Of the 15 teams competing, four are from the Ivy League — Dartmouth, Brown, Harvard and Yale. Others joining the field are defending champion Quinnipiac, Albany, Boston University, Fairfield, Hartford, Holy Cross, Sacred Heart, Siena, Southern New Hampshire, Wagner and Williams. Last year's medalist winner, Siena's Sarah Riso, will also be back to defend her title.
The young Big Green squad features one senior in co-captain
Catharine Roddy, a two-time All-Ivy League performer. Junior
Kristen Chen, along with sophomores
Moon Cheong and
Julianne Strauch, plus freshman
Kaitlyn Lees will attempt to keep Dartmouth atop the leaderboard over the weekend. Playing as individuals will be junior co-captain
Bethany Burns and freshman
Kristen Chen.
Dartmouth has finished no lower than third at its home invitational in any of the past five years, and took home the trophy three years ago by 18 strokes with Roddy contributing to the victory as a freshman.
The two-round tournament will begin on Saturday at 9 a.m., Dartmouth players will hit the course beginning at 9:56 a.m., while the last group will tee off at 12:44 p.m. The second and final round on Sunday will feature a shotgun start beginning at 9 a.m.
