HAMILTON, N.Y – With just 8:18 remaining in the third period, senior
Alex Jasiek broke a scoreless tie with his sixth goal of the season to help the Dartmouth men's hockey team to a 1-0 win Friday night at Colgate's Class of 1965 Arena.
Â
At the other end of the ice, junior netminder
Adrian Clark turned aside 28 shots for his second straight shutout and third of the season.
Â
Friday marked the first time in 15 years that the Big Green (7-8-2, 6-3-1 ECAC) have turned in consecutive shutouts. Dartmouth beat RPI, 6-0 and 1-0, in Games 2 and 3 of the 2004 ECACA Hockey Quarterfinals. Dan Yacey was in net for both of those wins and now has company as Clark continues his stretch of strong goaltending.
Â
Clark's counterpart in Mitch Benson played well all night, but was the victim of a well-placed shot from Jasiek below the circle to his left. Jasiek pulled the puck off a defender's stick and slipped the centering attempt off inside of Benson's pad for his only blemish in 25 Dartmouth shots on goal.
Â
The result was another frustrating night for the Raiders (6-13-2, 3-4-2 ECAC), who were blanked for the seventh time in the season, setting a new program mark in just mid-January.
Â
Clark's streak without allowing a goal has now reached 122 minutes and seven seconds.
Â
Dartmouth is back on the road Saturday at No. 15 Cornell. Game time between the Ivy League foes is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start to lessen the impact on travel for fans and the team during the snowstorm.
