HANOVER, N.H. –
Hansi Wiens, the Douglas A. Donahue, Jr. 1973 Head Coach of Men's and Women's Squash has announced senior
Annie Blasberg is once again the women's squash captain for the 2019-20 season.
Â
"We are incredibly fortunate to have Annie as our captain for the second consecutive season," said Wiens. "Annie's incredibly strong work ethic, dedication to the team, willingness to challenge others thoughtfully, and leadership potential were among the primary reasons for why she was asked to co-captain the team last year. All of these qualities only became stronger and more pronounced throughout the season and her teammates and coaches clearly recognized that she'll be the absolutely right person to help us navigate through the 2019-2020 season."
Â
Playing in the No. 1 position as a captain in 2018-19, all of Blasberg's victories were sweeps against Brown twice, St. Lawrence and Amherst.
Â
"It's unusual for a junior to be selected captain," Wiens continued. "And even more difficult to get re-elected the following year. The fact that Annie achieved both speaks for itself."
Â
Dartmouth will compete in the Ivy League scrimmages at Penn on Nov. 9-10 and begin the season at home against Harvard on Dec. 3 at 5 p.m.
